Hurricane Maxine devastated Serenity, leaving the town in ruins, but its citizens refused to be defeated, coming together to support each other.
Episode 6 of Sweet Magnolias kicked off with Erik and Helen sharing quality time together. Helen reassures Erik that everyone who was at Sullivans and Friends made it home safely. Their morning is interrupted by calls from Peggy and Cal.
Cal offers to open up the restaurant for the community free of charge and Annie says she’s going to help Kyle and Lily at the park.
Things get a bit awkward for Helen when Genevieve pops back up. It’s a nice interaction but built on the secret that Helen and Erik are back together.
With a thoughtful gesture Maddie brings Cal, Erik and Bailey energy drinks and protein bars because Sullivans and Friends is busier than expected, causing Cal’s behavior to be a little off. Erik, however, couldn’t be happier. He’s humming and smiling ear to ear, which obviously has to do with Helen.
Speaking of Helen, she sends Annie to get footage of Maddie sharing an encouraging message for the town’s social media page.
Sullivans and Friends is becoming increasingly crowded as more and more people arrive for a free meal. However, you can tell the stress is starting to get to Cal. On a lighter note, Helen and Erik share a spontaneous kiss after running into each other’s arms. Love is truly in the air.
Maddie’s video continues to bring positive engagement. A reporter from Charleston even comes down to interview her and other citizens in the community. Later, she is interviewed by another reporter from Washington D.C., who she scrutinizes for judging her beloved city of Serenity.
Dana Sue, Helen and Maddie pour it out for margarita night. Dana Sue announces that she’s going to teach an insurance paperwork workshop, and Helen praises Annie, Kyle and all the teens for how hard they worked.
The best part though? Helen tells the story of her and Erik’s epic rain kiss, detailing every second of the moment. Maddie and Dana Sue were left speechless, in awe, and so happy for their best friend.
Comedy ensues when Ronnie shows up in front of Dana Sue and Annie with a new motorcycle, leaving them completely shocked.
The heartwarming episode took a scary turn at the end. Maddie expressed how happy she was to be home with her husband after a long day, but as Cal came down the stairs, he fell straight to the ground, with Maddie terrified and screaming Cal’s name.
Will Cal be okay? You’ll have to keep watching. The full season four of Sweet Magnolias is currently streaming on Netflix.
