The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 3: "Just Fans" Review
In tonight’s episode of The Equalizer, Delilah received exciting news: she and Cam are officially Instagram official! He shared a photo of them holding hands along with a heart emoji, and Dee couldn't wait to show everyone. Robyn was happy for her daughter, but part of her felt the urge to run a background check on Cam. The only thing stopping her was Aunt Vi, who reminded Robyn that it’s important to respect Delilah’s choices. After all, they had raised her well, and Robyn needed to focus on a more pressing matter.
Robyn was contacted by a friend of Lily Evans, a social worker who often worked late hours. Lily had left her daughter, Hannah, with her best friend, but when hours went by without contact, concern grew. This behavior was out of character for Lily, especially considering she was embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her ex, Peter. He was barely around but was still fighting for custody to avoid paying child support, which made the situation even more dire if he discovered Lily’s absence.
With her friend feeling that something was off but unable to go to the police, Robyn stepped in. She believed that something had happened to Lily.
As she investigated, Robyn discovered that Lily had been abducted outside a halfway house. Just before her disappearance, Lily made a heartfelt video for Hannah, expressing her love, which added to the urgency of finding her. Lily’s phone was found in the same alley, and signs of struggle confirmed that she had been taken against her will. The investigation revealed that Lily was not only a dedicated social worker but also a cam girl, a decision she made to support her child and pay off student loans.
Unfortunately, this dual life had drawn unwanted attention, including a stalker who had been sending her threatening letters. This stalker believed he had a special connection with cam girls and was known for becoming obsessed with them. However, instead of targeting Lily, he mistakenly tried to help another cam girl, Sarah Tanner, who had gone missing three months prior.
Lily’s search for Sarah had put her in the stalker’s sights, leading to her abduction.
Robyn learned that both women were represented by a manager, Victoria Allen, who had betrayed them by revealing their identities for a hefty sum. Harry managed to hack into Victoria’s records, uncovering the payment details that linked her to the women’s disappearances.
Under pressure, Victoria confessed to her role in the betrayals but claimed she had never met the stalker. Robyn and her team connected the dots to Daniel Fleming, a misogynist with a history of abusing women. After a confrontation, Robyn knocked him out, and Sarah, once rescued, initially wanted to take justice into her own hands. However, with Robyn and Lily's support, she ultimately decided to let go of her gun, allowing justice to prevail.
With the case resolved, Sarah returned to her daughter, and Robyn felt a renewed sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Aunt Vi was enjoying a blossoming romance with an officer she met during a community outreach event, while Mel found solace in starting an open mic night at the bar—a way to cope with her PTSD and create something meaningful for herself.
As Robyn reflected on the day's events, she felt a mix of fulfillment in her work and the ongoing challenges faced by her loved ones, reminding her that while justice is rewarding, there’s still much to navigate in their personal lives.
