In this episode of The Irrational, Alec and Rose get pulled into a tricky investigation involving the murder of Des, a member of the theater company. Rose is hired by Asok, who’s worried because her fiancé, Malcolm, has been acting strange as their wedding day gets closer. Rose brings Alec in to help, but at first, neither of them really knows much about Malcolm.
As Rose starts digging into the case, she finds out that Malcolm’s been using multiple identities. Then, they find a bag of diamonds in Des’s coat pocket, which only adds more mystery to the whole situation. Marissa is also brought in when it turns out that the diamonds might be connected to Malcolm.
It turns out Des found out about Malcolm’s secret and the diamonds, and when he confronted him, Malcolm agreed to split the profit from selling the diamonds. But Des had other plans he went to Maya, the owner of the theater, and told her he could use the money to save the theater. But Maya wasn’t having it. She tried to talk him out of saving it, because if Des succeeded, it would ruin her chance to sell the theater. Maya had a $1 million offer for the land, but her grandfather’s will had a clause that said she could only sell if the theater was failing.
Eventually, we learn that Des’s murder wasn’t intentional. Maya was just trying to talk him out of saving the theater, but things went sideways. In a panic, she accidentally killed Des and then tried to cover it up by putting his body in a construction hole, hoping no one would find it.
After all the drama and twists, the play finally goes on as planned. Maya is arrested in the middle of the performance, and Rose steps in to take over her role. Alec and Rose both impress everyone with their performances, especially Rizean, Kylie, and Phoebe. They all try to congratulate them, but when they turn around, they realize Rose has slipped away.
Alec, sensing something is off, goes to find her. He eventually catches up with her, and she’s standing there looking upset. He asks her what’s wrong, and she reveals that she’s been assigned another case. But this one’s different; it's about someone from her past. Alec is clearly curious, so Rose drops a bombshell: the case involves her husband.
Alec is stunned, and the two lock eyes, leaving everyone wondering what that could mean. The episode ends on that cliffhanger, setting up the season finale where we’ll finally find out more about Rose’s past and the mystery surrounding her husband.
