The Wheel of Time is set to begin a new chapter with the premiere of Season 3 on Prime Video, launching Thursday, March 13.
This exciting news was shared at CCXP24 in São Paulo, Brazil, where a first look trailer for the new season was also revealed (see below).
As the premiere date approaches on January 15, two months out, additional casting details have been unveiled, showcasing new talent joining the ensemble.
The teaser for Season 3 hints at a changing world, where the Shadow’s influence continues to grow. The ongoing battle between Light and Dark has reached a critical point, with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Egwene (Madeleine Madden) determined to prevent Rand (Josha Stradowski) from falling into the darkness.
What to Expect from Season 3
Based on the best-selling fantasy series by Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time follows Rand al'Thor, a humble farm boy who discovers he is the Dragon Reborn—a legendary figure destined to either save or doom the world.
Season 2 concluded with Rand defeating Ishamael and reuniting with his friends at Fal Dara, where he is officially declared the Dragon Reborn. However, as Season 3 begins, the stakes grow even higher. According to the official synopsis, “The threats against the Light are multiplying.” The White Tower is divided, the Black Ajah is on the loose, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the Forsaken are relentlessly pursuing Rand, including Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), whose complex relationship with him will force both to choose between Light and Dark.
As Rand’s corrupted power intensifies, he becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. The two women, once mentor and student, now must unite to prevent Rand from succumbing to the Dark One—no matter the cost.
Returning Cast for Season 3
In addition to returning stars Rosamund Pike (Moiraine), Josha Stradowski (Rand), Madeleine Madden (Egwene), and Natasha O'Keeffe (Lanfear), the series continues to feature Daniel Henney (Lan Mandragoran), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al'Meara), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Dónal Finn (Mat Cauthon), Ceara Coveney (Elayne Trakand), Kate Fleetwood (Leandrin Guirale), Ayoola Smart (Aviendha), Sophie Okonedo (Siuan), and Kae Alexander (Min Farshaw).
New Faces for Season 3
Season 3 introduces some exciting new characters, including Emmy-winner Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse, The Penguin), who will portray Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a powerful and politically astute Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah. Elaida’s return to the White Tower will stir up tension with both Moiraine and Siuan, with old scores yet to be settled.
Additionally, Olivia Williams (Dune: Prophecy), Callum Kerr (Hollyoaks, Monarch), Luke Fetherston (Still Up, Almost Never), and Nuno Lopes (The New Look, A Fazenda) join the royal family of Andor, one of the most influential nations in the Westlands.
On January 15, it was also announced that Isabella Bucceri will play Faile Bashere, a Saldaean "Hunter of the Horn" searching for a cherished relic in the Two Rivers. New Aiel characters include Nukâka Coster-Waldau (Thin Ice) as Bair, the Taardad Aiel’s eldest Wise One; Salóme Gunnarsdóttir (The Lazarus Project) as Melaine, a mystical Wise One; Björn Landberg (Unter uns) as Rhuarc, the Clan Chief with forbidden knowledge of the fog’s secrets; and Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok) as Melindhra, a Malkieri survivor raised by the Taardad Aiel.
The series is adapted for television by showrunner Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who serves as executive producer alongside Pike, Rick Selvage, Larry Mondragon, Ted Field, Mike Weber, Marigo Kehoe, Ciaran Donnelly, Justine Juel Gillmer, and Dave Hill.
