'Tulsa King' Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: Tilting at Windmills

Earlier, in Tulsa King Season 2, we witnessed Bevilaqua's attempt to eliminate Dwight through his associate, which ultimately failed. Dwight was preparing to expand his business by establishing his own hydroponic weed farm. In a previous episode, he struck a deal with the Native Americans and discovered that even Thresher had approached them with a proposal. Mitch informed Dwight about the profitability of Donnie's car sales business as a potential investment. Bill Bevilaqua was furious upon receiving his friend's dead body, fueling his desire for revenge as he awaited the right moment to strike. Let's delve into the events of Tulsa King season 2, episode 5, and the conflicts that emerged in Dwight's life.

Dwight accompanied Christina to visit a prestigious educational institution where she intended to enroll her children, Cody and Ryan. The school offered a distinctive curriculum emphasizing teamwork and refrained from comparing students. The school's administrator explained to Dwight and Christina that they did not keep scores during sports activities and ensured that all children had equal opportunities to participate in various roles during plays. This approach aimed to prevent any child from feeling inferior to their peers. Dwight, coming from a different perspective, questioned the practicality of such an idealistic environment in preparing children for the real world. He inquired about the school's methods for teaching street smarts and developing social intelligence in students. Despite Dwight's skepticism, Christina advised him to be open-minded and not create a negative impression in front of the administrator. Given the school's highly selective admissions process, Christina was eager for her children to become part of the institution.

In the fifth episode of Tulsa King, Mitch began frequenting Donnie’s car dealership to gain insights into the business. Meanwhile, Joana, Dwight’s sister, expressed interest in joining Bodhi’s cannabis store, believing her creative ideas could benefit the enterprise. Tyson approached Dwight, inquiring about a potential confrontation with Bill Bevilaqua, who had attempted to harm Dwight. However, Dwight dismissed the idea, stating he had no intention of engaging in a reckless conflict that would deplete his resources. Despite Dwight's reluctance to engage in a war, his adversaries were determined to outmaneuver him and seize control of Tulsa at any cost.

In the previous episode, Vince expressed his desire for a peaceful meetup following Chickie's incident. Discussing with Bevilaqua, Vince mentioned the limited options besides negotiations with New York regarding Dwight. Despite Chickie's agreement to negotiate in episode 5, he remained skeptical about improving their situation. Vince contacted Goodie to arrange a meetup with Dwight in Atlanta. In the upcoming episode, it is likely that the former friends turned foes will gather under one roof. However, the deep animosity Chickie and Bevilaqua harbored towards Dwight seemed to overshadow any potential positive outcome. Episode 5 also highlighted Vince's disdain for Chickie's behavior and alcohol consumption. It is possible that Vince, like Goodie, may consider switching allegiances as he recognized Dwight as the most rational among them, avoiding impulsive actions.

Armand once again fell behind on his payments and failed to give Tyson their share when asked. Armand was becoming closer to Thresher, and although Dwight may have been aware of their communication, he was unaware that Armand had accepted money from Thresher. Dwight and Thresher confronted each other at Margaret’s stable, leading to a heated argument that required Margaret's intervention to defuse. Margaret informed Dwight that Thresher was insecure, extremely obsessive, and possessive in both his personal and professional life. Thresher boldly declared to Dwight that he wouldn't allow him to have his way. In a later scene from season 2, episode 5, Thresher's henchmen vandalized the equipment at the hydroponic farm. Dwight and his team arrived in the nick of time, engaging in a confrontation with Thresher's men and teaching them a lesson. That same evening, Dwight went on a date with Margaret, only to be surprised by the restaurant manager delivering a bottle of Thresher's finest champagne. It was then that Dwight realized Thresher was not going to back down without a fight.

Moreover, in the conclusion of episode 5 of the second season of Tulsa King, Thresher reached out to Bevilaqua, proposing a partnership. Thresher's dissatisfaction with his current partner, Jackie, led to numerous conflicts between them. I anticipate a potential change in alliances in the upcoming episodes, with many characters possibly switching sides. The planned meeting organized by Vince promises intriguing developments, particularly regarding the actions of Bevilaqua and Thresher.
