'Watson' Season 1 Episode 6 “The Camgirl Inquiry” Review

Writer: BarbaraBarbara

Stephens is watching and communicating with a woman, Portia, in her underwear via zoom. They talk. He asks her about herself. She hesitates, but he draws her out. He asks her if he can get her an appointment at a hospital, because she appears ill.

The next day, he and his brother, Adam, talk about his love life. Stephens tries to divert the topic of his love life when they enter their shared clinic office. It wasn't happening because Ingrid chimed in to tease Stephens and tells him about the ongoing bet about his girlfriend.

Shinwell enters the office and asks them for help to reduce the unanswered 537 patient petitions requesting treatment at their clinic.  He is launching Project Zero. He wants to reduce them to 0 by nightfall and sends them to review the casework. At his desk, Stephens is distracted by a DM he received from Marsha. They are down to 411 cases when Ingrid asks Stephens for input.

Stephens doesn't answer and leaves to talk to Watson. He presents Marsha’s symptoms and tells him she won't see a doctor. Watson says she may have a UTI, and she needs to see a doctor before it goes septic. Cranberry juice isn't an anecdote. Stephens contacts Portia and she's sicker.  She didn't go to the hospital. She passes out.

Stephens returns to Watson ‘s office, all stressed out. He gives Watson his computer with the zoom session open showing Portia passed out. Stephens tells him she's his Camgirl.  Stephens expects to be mocked, but Watson just wants to help him and the girl.  He said they must get assistance from The Team. Stephens is reluctant but agrees.

They give them the conditions, and Watson immediately stops the judgement Stephens gets from his teammates.

They begin trying to locate Portia, Stephens Camgirl.  Adam points out some posters in the background of the on-screen image. He does a reverse image check and finds some location information.  Watson takes the twins and search for a store location and puts Sasha and Ingrid on sex toy detail. They have got two addresses. In the meantime, Sasha gets Ingrid to reveal she is a birthday abstainer. Sasha’s sure she doesn't mean it and is challenged.

Watson observes Stephens and Adam discussing Stephens social media dating.  Watson’s quietness disturbs Stephens. They got to the location where Portia lived.  They search the area and find a possible apartment. The guy who lives there now tells them Annie Wilson used to live but left 3 months ago.  She changed her name but gave them nothing more.

Shinwell calls Watson and tells them Portia’s worsening. Watson and the twins determine they have 4 hours to find her.  They ask Shinwell to look for more on-screen information to help them locate her.  Onscreen walks a little Corgi.  He can't read its tag but will keep trying.

Watson contacts Sasha and Ingrid and updates them on Portia's ex and her restraining order against him. They are on the way to the address where the toy was delivered.

Back in the car, Watson tells Stephens about Sherlock’s female relationships.  He compares Stephens’ convoluted arrangements to that.  He tries to ease his fears.  Adam and Stephens go to meet with Stephens’ ex-fiancée who's now Adam’s girlfriend, Lauren.  Stephens tells her the situation, and they ask for a legal connection on the restraining order.

At the office, Sasha, Ingrid and Shinwell continue trying to call the dog.  Shinwell walks away.  Sasha tries to go to the Birthday Fairy on Ingrid.  Ingrid threatens to expose Sasha’s fake engagement scam.  In walks Watson, and the first name he calls, Brutus, gets the dog’s attention.   He gets close enough to the camera so they can read the dog’s tag.

EMT’s get to Portia's/Annie’s apartment.  Watson and Stephens get there soon after.  She's quickly taken to the hospital.

At the clinic office, Watson tells The Team the antibiotics used to treat Annie aren't working on her sepsis.  She has a rare form of sepsis, and they need to find out what it is.  Stephens and Sasha returned to Portia's/Annie's apartment, while Ingrid and Adam had to find Annie's relatives in New Mexico and take care of Brutus.

Ingrid doesn't understand taking care of a pet. Adam tried explaining the owner-pet relationship, but she didn’t get it.

Stephens and Sasha searched for Portia's apartment.  Stephens feels he must explain his relationship with Portia.  Sasha understands.

Everyone’s back at the clinic office and they discuss findings that could give them clues about locating Portia's family.  Watson asks Stephens to comfort Portia, her condition worsening.  Watson later goes to Portia's room and talks with Stephens who feels he’s failed Portia.  Watson commiserates. Suddenly Stephens gets a call from Portia’s Mother.

They found her family in New Mexico. Portia told Stephens some truth in a previous session.  She just returned from New Mexico two weeks ago and was bitten by a rabbit.  They piece these clues together to determine the rare type of sepsis Portia contracted wasn't sepsis. They determined she was infected by the black plaque.  Stephens rushes off to administer erythromycin antibiotics and waits in Portia's room for her to recover.

The next morning, Ingrid arrives at work and finds a delectable-looking torte on her desk.  Sasha brought it for her birthday. Ingrid isn't appreciative and cruelly analyzes Sasha's real intent. She does thank her for the attempt, as Sasha rushes away.

In Portia's room, she wakes up and thanks Stephens for saving her life.  They try to figure out what they do next.  Stephens thanked her for what she did for him.

Shinwell brings Watson his tainted medicine. Watson broods and tells him Sherlock didn't have to die.  Shinwell tells him to stop worrying over it. He leaves and gets a text from Moriarty’s agent verifying he gave Watson the meds.

At her condo, Sasha returns her engagement ring to her fiancé.  She gives him 2 weeks to move out.

Outside on a pier, Ingrid sits enjoying her Birthday cake.  She gets a call from Sasha.  Sasha asks to meet with her to help her.  Ingrid agrees to an appointment and happily continues eating her Birthday cake.

This episode was a little unusual, but understandable once explained. Ingrid can really analyze people and is not afraid to tell them. Sasha faces her truth. Found the twins have relationship issues. Watson is being poisoned by Shinwell, and Shinwell subtly forewarns him.  Watson still bears guilt for not saving Sherlock.  This episode had multiple mini-plots, and only one was resolved.  The one thing that added some fun was Brutus, a very cute pooch.  The Team is becoming more cohesive.
