Will and Faith went to Sunny’s caretaker, Penelope’s house. Sunny is a new character debuting in tonight’s episode, Kyrie McAlpin. Will is on his cell asking the ADA (Assistant District Attorney), Marion Alba, to stall for time on prosecuting Rafael. She stalls the press while Will and Faith look for Sunny, but the mayor is not happy about that. Will calls Amanda after they find Penelope dead.. He does his crime scene recall thing, and is able to find a clue on who may have kidnapped Sunny. He finds Sunny’s camera, and they play the recording back to find a reflection of the killer and kidnapper in her desk mirror. Faith identifies him, Lincoln Spelling. At that time, Amanda and Ormewood are looking at the killer’s body in the morgue.. They suspect it had to be an inside job, someone with a badge.
Angie Polaski is still at the gated community about to do some paperwork, when a repairman starts hammering on a light outside. He falls off the ladder, and she helps him.
Amanda, Ormewood and Faith are brainstorming in the GBI Conference Room. Lincoln was killed and they need to find out who did it. Faith states the killer is part of a stolen car ring, and the person who also kidnapped Sunny. Ormewood leaves to follow-up with a lead, a vehicle title forger.Agent Gross, Lurch, comes in with items he collected from Sunny’s caretaker’s house. Will took Rafael to another office to talk. They discuss Sunny, and Will tells him Sunny’s coming home alive. His daughter has a lot of behavior episodes, and sometimes needs to be calmed. She is brilliant. They use her Drixby to contact her.
In an interrogation room, Ormewood asks his lead, Delores, questions. First, it’s how he can get another driver’s license picture taken. Next, he asks about her forging vehicle titles. He tells her that about the officer who was killed, and the death of the gang leader who was stealing the cars. This gets her attention. She spills everything, and tells him about her contact and where her payments are deposited.
Will and Faith sit in the parking lot waiting for Delores’ contact. They converse, and Will tells her she and Ormewood are pretty close. Faith asks about Rafael and if he ever visited him in prison. At that time, Mac, Delores’ contact, rides up on a bicycle. He is not that smart and tries to run when they tell him they are GBI.
Angie is creating a statement of remorse about her past actions, in her office. The repairman comes by and brings her flowers to thank her for helping him, then nervously throws them away. He asks her not to submit an accident report. They talk a little and he leaves after things get awkward.
Rafael, Will and Amanda meet with Marion in the conference room. They decide to offer Mac a deal. Marion and Will go to talk to him. Meanwhile, a message comes in on Sunny’s Drixby. Rafael’s cuffs are removed so he can send Sunny a message. Amanda tries to get Sunny’s location. In another office, Marion and Will trick Mac into giving them information. They show Mac a morgue picture of Lincoln then leave him. In the conference room, they get Sunny to call Amanda’s cell. Amanda and Rafael talk to her. The kidnapper hears her. She fights with him and removes his mask. It’s CPT Cromwell! He takes her somewhere to kill her.
Amanda tells Will where they took Sunny, and he rushes to save her. Rafael is worried. Amanda talks to Sunny over the phone she had and tells her how to escape the car trunk and where to run. She gets out and runs to the nearby mall, but Cromwell finds her. Will, Faith and Ormewood get to the mall and find Cromwell. Faith fights with him, and there’s a shootout. Both Will and Cromwell get shot. Ormewood tackles Cromwell from behind. They arrest him and take him to the station.
Will and Faith bring Sunny to Rafael. He introduces his daughter to Will and Amanda. Will tries to leave without saying anything, but Faith follows him. She puts him on the spot and doesn’t let him leave without a word again. These two are cute together, and they try to give each other the most awkward hug.
Rafael is released, and Sunny is in Amanda’s office showing her how to use her Drixby. Will asks Rafael about Sunny and her mother. Rafael says Sunny’s mother wasn’t around anymore. Rafael can’t take care of his daughter because of the criminal work he does. Will volunteers to take care of her, but has an idea. Back in the conference room, everyone prepares to leave. Ormewood’s returning to the police department, and they watch as CPT Cromwell is transferred to jail. Faith and Will discuss Battery Hill Investments and the car ring. Cromwell is shot.
The Atlanta Mayor finishes a press conference with the press. She leaves and meets Will in the next room. He asks her about Battery Hill Investments. He walks through the facts of the case and the evidence. Faith walks in and arrests her.
Amanda takes Sunny in to live with her. Things are a little uncomfortable, but it takes time. Angie goes before a review board and tries to get her job back. Will goes home, showers, shaves and puts on his trademark 3-piece suit and tie. He does a great Gladys Knight and the Pips impression with Betty. Rafael came by his house with their favorite snack grandma used to make for them. Will gave him a picture the police collected from Penelope’s. He tells him Cromwell’s shooter was from Rafael’s Piedmont Kings gang, and warns his childhood friend about the path he’s taking. Yes, Will’s BACK!
This was a good episode! Sunny and Rafael are new recurring characters on Will Trent. The premiere episode was Ramon Rodriguez’s directorial debut. The expansion of their acting ensemble all work together to make Season 3 more dramatic and entertaining. Betty is STILL Adorable!
