William Lipton Returns to General Hospital as Cameron Webber

2024 has been a standout year for William Lipton, with exciting news about his acting career. In February, it was announced that he’d be headlining a new Amazon series, The Runarounds, which received a straight-to-series order for eight episodes. Filming is taking place in Wilmington, North Carolina, and the show is set there as well. Lipton, who’s always had a passion for both acting and music, described the project as a "dream come true." “I’ve already had the chance to combine both on General Hospital, but this show is all about the making of a band, and it's been the best,” he shared.

Despite his rising star, Lipton remains loyal to General Hospital, where he starred as Cameron Webber. “I’ve loved my time there, and even just making a brief return warms my heart,” he stated in a recent interview. Lipton recently returned to the show for a surprise visit on December 18. The actor reflected on the joy of reconnecting with old friends and co-stars. “It was awesome to see so many incredible actors and longtime friends,” he shared, mentioning his catch-up with Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) and the warm hug he got from Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber). “It was just so sweet to see Becky. She’s always been so supportive, and I’m so grateful for her friendship.”

Lipton first joined GH in 2018, portraying Elizabeth’s son, Cameron. His character left in 2023 to attend Stanford University on a soccer scholarship after a complicated relationship with Josslyn. Earlier this year, Lipton returned briefly to attend Spencer Cassadine’s memorial service, but this time, he was contacted months in advance to come back. “I got a text from two of my favorite people on the planet, Mark Teschner and Frank Valentini, asking if I had time to come back and visit my GH family,” he recalls. “Of course, I was stoked and happy they were able to fit me in despite my busy schedule.”

Although it had been a few months since his last appearance, Lipton says he wasn’t nervous when he arrived on set. “I felt really confident at first, but as soon as we started rehearsing, my heart dropped. I remembered how intense it is constantly filming with no time to relax. But I was ready to jump back into it.”

And while returning to the fast-paced environment of the show was a challenge, Lipton couldn’t have been happier to reconnect with the GH team. “I ran into Mo [Maurice Benard] downstairs, saw my friends in hair and makeup it was just so great. GH has always felt like a family to me.”
