Zero Day: Robert De Niro and Angela Bassett Lead Netflix’s Star-Studded Thriller

Updated: Nov 20

Netflix has announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated limited series Zero Day, starring Academy Award winner Robert De Niro. The six-episode conspiracy thriller will debut Thursday, February 20, 2025, and the streamer has unveiled first-look photos to heighten anticipation.

In his first major television role, De Niro plays former U.S. President George Mullen, tasked with uncovering the perpetrators of a catastrophic cyberattack that has left the nation in chaos and claimed thousands of lives. According to the official synopsis, Mullen must navigate rampant disinformation and power struggles among leaders in technology, Wall Street, and government, all while confronting his own buried secrets and risking everything he values.

The impressive cast includes Angela Bassett as the current U.S. President, Evelyn Mitchell; Lizzy Caplan as Mullen’s congresswoman daughter, Alexandra; Jesse Plemons as Roger Carlson, Mullen’s former aide; Connie Britton as political strategist Valerie Whitesell; and Dan Stevens as Evan Green, a brash TV host of a wildly popular political show.

Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Mad Men) will direct all six episodes of the limited series, promising a suspenseful and cinematic experience.

Zero Day looks to be a gripping exploration of political intrigue, cyber warfare, and personal redemption, making it one of 2025’s most anticipated releases on Netflix.
